Fat Studies in Canada: (Re)Mapping the Field

(Inanna Publications, 2022)

Back in 2020, I was asked to be an editor of the book Fat Studies in Canada: (Re)Mapping the Field alongside Allison Taylor, Kelsey Ioannoni, May Friedman, Ramanpreet Bahra, and Calla Evans. This edited collection focuses on the growing field of fat studies, specifically the emergence of fat studies theorists, academics, artists, and community activists in the colonial project known as Canada. This collection includes academic articles, stories, alternative forms of narration, illustrations, poetry, and other art works that highlight issues relating to fat studies in Canada. In its final stages, the book is forthcoming Summer of 2022.

BIG: Stories about Life in Plus-Sized Bodies

(Caitlin Press, 2020)

In 2020, editor Christina Myers alongside Caitlin Press released the essay anthology, “BIG: Stories about Life in Plus-Sized Bodies” which shared everything from pop culture stereotypes, shopping frustrations, fat jokes, and more. My memoir-style essay titled “Navigating Radical Self-Love and Body Neutrality” walks readers through what it takes to finally break through the chains of diet culture, and begin to learn to love yourself — no matter the size. Helped with book promotion and was invited to speak on panels and podcasts in relation to this launch. You can purchase this book on Amazon, or borrow it from your local library.

The Vault: On Mothering

(With/out Pretend, 2018)

In 2018, the team from Without/Pretend put out a call asking writers to submit creative nonfiction related to mothering, as seen through the lens of the writers' own personal experiences. As one of 22 contributors, I worked with editor Erin Klassen on the piece, “A Watched Pot” which examines intergenerational trauma and the healing process one faces. This book is no longer available for purchase.

The Hunt: Toronto

(Gatehouse Publishing, 2017)

In 2017, I was asked by Gatehouse Publishing to author the first Toronto edition of their travel book, The Hunt Guides. Alongside my long-time collaborator and local photographer, Britney Townsend — we spent six weeks touring our hometown featuring unique, thoughtful, and off-the-beaten-path choices that would give travelers an experience they wouldn’t forget when visiting Toronto.  You can purchase new (and used) copies via Amazon.
